Community Building Projects - round opens April 2026
Our funding for community building projects is available every two years, and over time has supported the development of many facilities and buildings, such as arts, heritage and cultural spaces, recreation and sport centres, church facilities that are open to the community (not for worship) and emergency services and accommodation.
This funding is for requests over $100,000* to go towards new community buildings or major renovations to existing community buildings.
The application process happens in stages, with Expressions of Interest (EOI) being invited from April 2026. We look for many different types of document to support your EOI, so it is important to leave yourself time to prepare these.
Key Timeframes to Note:
April 2026 | Expressions of Interest (EOI) invited |
August 2026 | Decisions made which EOIs to move forward with |
March 2027 | Final funding decision (for those invited to submit a full application) |
To help you prepare, we recommend that applicants look at the EOI questions from the 2024/25 round (link below). These questions will give you a good idea of what to expect and what we are looking for in your submissions.
*For those seeking support for minor upgrades and refurbishments to existing facilities (under $100,000), we encourage you to speak with a Funding Support Advisor. You can also submit a funding request via the Funding Hub.
We look forward to hearing your innovative ideas and working together to create vibrant, inclusive and accessible facilities for our communities to enjoy using.
