Mutukaroa is a home/school partnership to support children’s learning in years 1 to 3 at decile two Sylvia Park Primary School in Mt Wellington.
This funded a full-time role for a teacher to spend time with parents at home and in the workplace to discuss their children’s learning. As parents gained a better understanding of learning objectives, and how they could support their children, student achievement started to grow. Principal Barbara Alaalatoa and the Sylvia Park team are now helping the Ministry of Education to take Mutukaroa to over 100 schools across the country.
