Whānui Eye Spy – Auckland Arts Festival

Our latest digital story profiles a cool Auckland Arts Festival project, Whānui Eye Spy. This saw some of Auckland’s most exciting photographers share their knowledge and expertise with 37 young artists from across the city. The resulting Whānui Eye Spy exhibition provides a unique look at life in the city from the perspective of a new generation.

The Whānui project was supported through Foundation North’s partnership with Creative New Zealand in the Auckland Diversity Project Fund. This provides $400,000 a year to support work that engages with Māori, Pacific and Asian audiences and artists.

Whānui was just one of the many events that Auckland Arts Festival brought to the city, the region, and New Zealand this year. In recognition of its contribution to the quality of life in our region, Auckland Arts Festival is a key community partner of Foundation North. We support each festival with a substantial grant, ($100,000 for the 2017 festival).
