Kevin Prime (Kaumatua for Foundation North and Centre for Social Impact), was recognised in the latest Queens Birthday Honour’s list receiving an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for his services to conservation & Maori. The Honour is in recognition of his current and former roles:

Kaumatua & former Chair of the Foundation (formally ASB Community Trust)

Chair of the Reconnecting Northland Steering Committee

Involvement in Ngati Hine kereru restoration programme

Chair of Te Kahui Māori Advisory Bio-Heritage National Science Challenge.
Matua Kevin was appointed as a Trustee of the Foundation in 2001. From 2003 – 2008, he was also appointed Chair of the Foundation. His appointment to the Foundation ended in 2008. Although this came to an end, he continued to provide support and cultural advice to staff and Trustees; especially through the engagement and launch of the Maori and Pacific Education Initiative project.
In 2010, Matua Kevin was officially appointed as Kaumatua for the Foundation and was duly appointed in the role as Kaumatua for the newly established Foundation initiative Centre for Social Impact, in 2014.
Matua Kevin is actively involved in the implementation of the Foundation’s Maori Strategy. He attends Marae openings on the Foundation’s behalf on a regular basis and travels with staff when the funding programme team run seminars in Tamaki and Taitokerau. These a just a few activities to mention.
Matua Kevin’s services to conservation & Maori were also recognised in the Queen’s 1991 New Year’s Honours list when he received a Member of the Order of the British Empire honour.
