Navigating our strategic direction together

02 September 2024   /   News

Our 15-year strategy is reviewed every three years to keep it relevant to our communities of Te Tai Tokerau and Tāmaki Makaurau, and to ensure it is getting us closer to achieving our vision of enhanced lives.

This year, our strategic review, facilitated with the able support of our Centre for Social Impact, sought out and analysed relevant data and the perspectives of internal and external stakeholders, including a range of community leaders and community organisations supported by the Foundation.

The resulting evidence base reaffirms that our current strategy is sound and identifies where we can strengthen our practice as a strategic funder.  Ngā mihi to everyone whose voices we heard.

You told us our strategy is going in the right direction and where we are getting traction together. You highlighted the issues we could be prioritising more, and the ways we can strengthen what we do to be more community-led.

So where we are heading together?

Anchored by our focus areas, our commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and our levers for climate action, we will:

  • sharpen our focus to invest in community-based solutions that tackle priority issues, mahi that takes a collective scope and leaves no one behind.
  • continue to be present and active at grassroots level throughout our rohe, and be more intentional about the range of supporting resources we can offer.
  • provide more multi-year funding, collaborate more with other funders and power up initiatives that place the funding reins into the hands of communities themselves.
