Te Māhuri o te Taiao
Te Māhuri o te Taiao is a fund led by a panel of seven rangatahi who represent different rohe in Northern Kaipara. These rangatahi have been selected by their Iwi leaders of Te Roroa, Ngāti Whātua and Te Uri o Hau to invest in our Taiao. This is a participatory grant-making initiative supported by Foundation North, SkyCity Community Trust and Clare Foundation.

Fund Criteria
Applicants can apply for up to $30,000 in funding for their project.
Projects must demonstrate that they are rangatahi-focused (aged 16 – 25 Years) and support regenerative environmental practices and climate action.
Projects must benefit the Kaipara regions and take place within the boundaries of Waimamaku (North), Tangiteroria (East), Oruawharo (South), and the West Coast.
To be considered for funding, your project must demonstrate alignment with at least one of the following focus areas:
- Revitalisation of Taiao such as Native birds, Plants, Ngāngara & Waterways (clean drinking and safe to swim in)
- Build & nurture local Rangatahi Leadership in Mātauranga Māori, invests in their knowledge and passion in the Taiao in their community
- Understanding the relationships between Mātauranga Māori and the Protection & Preservation of Taiao
- Amplifying Te Ao Māori as the norm in shaping our futures.
