How we assess

We have some general questions we ask when we assess applications, plus some more specific questions depending on your funding request.

We have some general questions we ask when we assess applications – and some specific questions relating to applications for grants for marae, and buildings and heritage projects.

These are the sorts of questions addressed in our assessment process for applications for Quick Response Grants and Community Grants.

  • Does the service, programme or event fit with one or more of the outcomes Foundation North is looking for?
  • Does your service, programme or event fit with one or more of our priorities?
  • Is there also a fit with our Māori or Pacific strategies?
  • Is there a need for what you want to offer the community?
  • Can your organisation effectively deliver the service, programme or event for which you want funding?
  • Is another organisation already providing this service, programme or event?
  • Is your organisation in good financial shape?
  • Have you thought about risks, such as Health and Safety?
  • What sort of evaluation is planned?
  • Is there collaboration with other organisations?
  • Is your work aligned to good-practice principles, if these are applicable?

There are additional issues we consider when assessing applications for marae, building and heritage projects - we will provide more information on these shortly.
